Here's a couple of flight shots from when my Nikon D800 was new. The lens is the Nikkor Af-s 300mm f4 with TC ii teleconverter. I think it did alright. Two beautiful birds from Cape York. It's my only shot of a Blue-winged Kookaburra. Unfortunately, the blue is on top of the wing. The Blue-faced Honeyeater is interesting with pale "windows" on its wings.
